Do I need a doctor’s referral?
You do not require a referral to visit a physiotherapist; however, some insurance companies may require one, so it is in your best interest to check with your insurance company before your visit to confirm your coverage.
Do I need to pay up front or can you direct bill my insurance company?
We do direct billing for some insurance companies, including Blue Cross, Great West Life, Green Shield, and Chamber of Commerce. If you have another plan, please give us a call and we can let you know if it is one that we can bill directly for you.
Is Lacewood Physiotherapy Clinic Limited an approved provider to Blue Cross or Workers' Compensation Board?
Yes.
How do I know if I have physiotherapy coverage under my insurance plan?
Before booking an appointment with us, please call your insurance company and see if your plan covers physiotherapy. It would also be useful to find out the particulars of your plan, including percentage/amount of coverage and whether or not your insurance company requires a doctor’s referral.
Do I need an appointment time?
You should book an appointment with us, so please give us a call and we will book you in for a visit. We will try to get you in to see us as soon as possible.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
You can bring a pair of shorts with you on your first visit if you’d like; however, we do have some extra pairs on hand if you need to borrow some.
If you are a WCB patient, please be sure to bring your provincial health card.
What should I expect on my first visit?
You should arrive 10 minutes early on your first visit in order to have ample time to register at the front desk. Once that is complete, your physiotherapist will then chat with you regarding your concern. A comprehensive, hands-on assessment will then follow so that your physiotherapist may determine the best treatment plan for you. Upon completion of this assessment, treatment will follow immediately afterwards (see below for types of treatment). Your session will close with your physiotherapist recommending how frequently you will need to attend physiotherapy for your particular concern. Future appointments may be set up upon your departure from our clinic.
What kind of treatment might I receive during my visits to the clinic?
Lacewood Physiotherapy Clinic offers an extensive range of treatment options to help you on your road to recovery. These types of treatment include modalities (interferential current, ultrasound, ice, moist heat, and acupuncture), manual therapy (hands-on mobilizations), in-clinic instruction on exercises, and home exercise programs. During your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will determine the type of treatment that is best suited for you and your particular concern.
