Gillian Lirette, BPE, BSc PT
Physiotherapist and Owner
With great determination and seemingly boundless energy, Gillian, has already accomplished a great deal in her life. A Halifax native, Gillian earned a Bachelor of Physical Education with a specialization in Athletic Therapy at Acadia University in 1998. She continued on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto in 2001. Following graduation, Gillian worked at Nova Functional Assessments and Therapy Services in Lunenburg, NS, and only one year later, partnered with its owner, Darlene Sanford, to open Lacewood Physiotherapy Clinic in 2002. Always eager to stay on top of the latest developments in patient care, Gillian has completed several post-graduate courses to keep her physiotherapy knowledge and skills at the highest level.
An equally enthusiastic and successful athlete, Gillian competed nationally in synchronized swimming for more than ten years and even participated in the 1991 Canada Games. She is also an avid runner who has regularly competed in 5K and 10K runs and has completed both a half and a full marathon.
The other great passion in Gillian’s life is her family. A typical working mother who balances her family life with her career, Gillian enjoys spending her spare time with her husband and their two small children.
Armed with extensive physiotherapy knowledge, an energetic spirit, and a positive, results-oriented philosophy, Gillian is committed to seeing that you receive the best possible care at her clinic.

Jenn MacKinnon, BSc PT
Physiotherapist
Hailing from North Sydney, Jenn is adored by our patients since she brings the warmth of a Cape Breton kitchen party to our clinic. Jenn became a physiotherapist not only because she loves people but also because of her fascination with science and health. Jenn graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2001. Three years later, she successfully completed the physiotherapy program at Dalhousie University. Immediately following her graduation from Dalhousie, Jenn was snapped up by our clinic and we’ve been lucky to have her here ever since!
Although Jenn has completed and excelled at many advanced, post-graduate physiotherapy courses, she has never lost her friendly and down-home nature. She makes our patients feel at ease with her warm and down-to-earth approach to physiotherapy. Especially popular are her fun music trivia games that help our patients pass the time while they are receiving treatment.
When she is not busy working, Jenn enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, and playing such sports as hockey and golf.
With her exceptional physiotherapy skills and her friendly, down-home charm, Jenn will ensure that you feel both welcome and well taken care of at our clinic.

Mike Hachey, BSc Kin, MScPT
Physiotherapist
Mike, originally from Moncton NB, moved to Halifax in 2001 to begin his post secondary education at Dalhousie University. Graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Mike remained in Halifax and completed his Master of Science in Physiotherapy in 2009.
Since graduating, Mike as had a variety of work experiences including the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater NS, Industrial physiotherapy in his work with Michelin Tire as well as private clinic work in Lunenburg NS with Nova Functional Assessments and now with the Lacewood Physiotherapy Clinic family here in Halifax. Always with a smile on his face, Mike loves working closely with our patients and developing a relationship with them, which he feels helps them get more actively involved in their rehabilitation. Always an optimist, Mike believes that posture and our habits, both good and bad, play major roles in our lives and can always have a link to an injury.
In his post graduate life, Mike has taken courses in Acupuncture as well as Kinesiotaping to help add to his toolbox to get patients back on track. When not at work, you can usually find Mike at the rink where he continues to enjoy playing hockey and is a scout for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL.
